Creative Corner: Reflecting on Creative Partnership

One of my favorite things about my partner is our shared love of storytelling, creativity, and a contemplative life. It brought us together and continues to fuel us amidst the privilege of parenting highs and lows. Whenever I stress out about money and the unpredictability as a soloprenuership, my partner always encouraged me to stay the course and continue to find my voice. “People spend their lifetime trying to figure out what they love doing…you have found that and it’s a gift. Just run with it,” he encourages me. 🖊

I would be remised if I didn’t mention that I thought marriage/partnership would be a breeze because we had what we call a “love marriage.” I grew up with many of our family members having had arranged marriages, so I sort of (naively) thought romantic love conquers all. But all healthy partnerships - regardless of how they start off - take hard work, intention, compassion, courage, and open-mindedness. I’ve been humbled to learn that lesson. Neither of us are perfect - individually or together - but what I appreciate most is our shared desire to reflect and grow together.
